ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the development status of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) intervention in psoriasis in recent ten years, analyze the research hotspots, and summarize the development trends to provide reference materials for scholars in this field. Taking the available literature related to the field of TCM intervention in psoriasis as the research object, the trends, contents, and source publications were statistically analyzed based on bibliometrics. The research cooperation and co-occurrence of keywords in this field were studied by the knowledge map analysis method based on CiteSpace. The total number of Chinese papers was 2 993 and English papers 285. In terms of publication trend, the annual publication of English papers was low but showed an obvious upward trend, while the increase in Chinese papers fluctuated and tended to be flat. In terms of the content of Chinese papers published, TCM ranked first according to the discipline(2 415). In English papers, the number of publications in pharmacology and pharmaceutical science was the highest(87). Literature source analysis showed that the Chinese and English journals with the most publications were China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy and Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, respectively. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine published the most dissertations in China(99). The authors with the most publications in Chinese and English were LI Bin(Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) and LU Chuan-jian(Guangdong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine). As revealed by the CiteSpace analysis of the research cooperation network, there were four mature and stable core teams in this field, but the cooperation intensity between different teams was weak. According to the keywords co-occurrence knowledge graph constructed by CiteSpace, the current hot keywords in this field are as follows: psoriasis, blood-heat syndrome, blood-stasis syndrome, fire needle, blood-dryness type, imiquimod, TCM bath, etiology and pathogenesis, cytokines, cupping therapy, etc. In summary, Chinese scholars have conducted active exploration and research in the field of TCM intervention in psoriasis in recent ten years. The overall development trend is good, and the breadth and depth of the research are constantly extending. It is suggested that relevant research should be free from discipline restrictions and strive for interdisciplinary integration.

ABSTRACT

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has proven to be a time-saving and efficient exercise strategy. Compared with traditional aerobic exercise, it can provide similar or even better health benefits. In recent years, a number of studies have suggested that HIIT could be used as a potential exercise rehabilitation therapy to improve cognitive impairment caused by obesity, diabetes, stroke, dementia and other diseases. HIIT may be superior to regular aerobic exercise. This article reviews the recent research progress on HIIT with a focus on its beneficial effect on brain cognitive function and the underlying mechanisms. HIIT may become an effective exercise for the prevention and/or improvement of brain cognitive disorder.

ABSTRACT

Objective To estimate the key epidemiological parameters, including the serial interval (SI), basic reproduction numbers (R0), and time-dependent reproduction numbers (Rt) based on the case data of COVID-19 published on the official website of Shaanxi Provincial Health Commission. Methods The method of maximum likelihood estimation was used to fit the probability distribution of SI, and three parametric models including Gamma, Weibull, and Lognormal distributions were adopted to estimate the distribution of SI. The optimal model was selected by the corrected Akaike information criterion (AICc). Based on nonlinear regression model the cumulative number of confirmed cases was fit to the growth rate r of the Richard growth model to estimate R0. The Rt was calculated based on the Bayesian framework. Results A total of 49 transmission chains were discovered from 245 local confirmed cases in Shaanxi Province. The Gamma distribution was the optimal model to fit the SI here by AICc. Using the Gamma distribution, the mean SI was estimated to be 6.3 days (95%CI:5.98 - 6.43) with a standard deviation (SD) of 3.94 days (95%CI: 3.01 - 5.03). Using the Richard growth model, the growth rate was estimated to be 0.23 (95% CI: 0.21 - 0.24) and the basic reproduction number in Shaanxi to be 3.11 (95%CI: 2.91 - 3.40). Rt showed an overall downward trend, and fell below 1 on February 10 (Rt=0.95(95%CI: 0.76-1.16)), and stabilized at around 0.35 on February 18. Conclusion The SI of COVID-19 is relatively shorter than that of MERS and SARS, while the R0 is relatively larger, and Rt is on a downward trend, which suggests COVID-19 is a highly transmissible infectious disease. The control measures including the isolation and treatment of confirmed patients, quarantine and observation of suspected cases, contact tracing, improvement of public awareness, and adoption of self-protection measures can effectively reduce the COVID-19 outbreak.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To evaluate the residual radioactivity after 131I treatment in postoperative inpatients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) using service robot in nuclear medicine ward, and assess the time for patients to be released from isolation.@*Methods@#From September 2017 to June 2018, 297 patients (94 males, 203 females, age: 19-80 years) with DTC who underwent 131I treatment after surgery were included. According to the purpose of treatment and the prescription dosage of 131I, patients were divided into 8 groups: 4 groups accepted 131I remnant ablation therapy (RAT) with different dosages, which were 3 700 MBq (RAT1, n=34), 4 440 MBq (RAT2, n=122), 5 550 MBq (RAT3, n=81) and 7 400 MBq (RAT4, n=27), respectively; 4 groups had 131I treatment for recurrent/metastatic lesions (RMLT), and the dosages were 3 700 MBq (n=1), 4 440 MBq (n=2), 5 550 MBq (n=14) and 7 400 MBq (n=16). At 4, 24, 48 and 72 h after 131I administration, the dose equivalent rates at 2 cm away from the patient′s neck and at 1 m away from the body were measured by the robot designed for nuclear medicine ward. Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to analyze the data.@*Results@#Neck dose equivalent rates for patients with RAT at different time points (4, 24, 48 and 72 h) after 131I administration were significantly different among 4 groups (H values: 20.889-46.410, all P<0.05), as well as the body dose equivalent rates (H values: 27.181-35.497, all P<0.05). The neck dose equivalent rates at 24, 48 and 72 h after 131I administration were statistically different between group 3 and 4 for patients with RMLT (z values: 2.328-3.076, all P<0.05; data in group 1 and 2 were too limited to be compared), while there was no statistical difference for the body dose equivalent rates (z values: 0.333-1.621, all P>0.05). The radioactivity retention in patients decreased rapidly within 24 h, then slowed down gradually and became extremely low at 72 h. At 72 h after 131I administration, 96.6%(255/264) patients with RAT and 100%(33/33) patients with RMLT were lower than 23.3 μSv/h, which meant the patients could be discharged from hospitalization.@*Conclusions@#Nuclear medicine ward service robots may dynamically measure residual radioactivity in DTC patients who take 131I treatment, providing individualized isolation solutions.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study was to establish Ace2 (angiotensin-converting enzyme 2) knockout mouse model with CRISPR/Cas9 gene targeting technology. A vector targeting Ace2 gene knockout was constructed with the primers of single-guide RNA (gRNA), and then transcribed gRNA/Cas9 mRNA was micro-injected into the mouse zygote. The deletion of exons 3 to 18 of Ace2 gene in mice was detected and identified by PCR and gene sequencing. The Ace2 gene knock-out mice were bred and copulated. Ace2 protein and mRNA expression were detected by Western blot and qRT-PCR in F3 progeny knock-out male mice. The gRNA expression vector was successfully constructed and transcribed in vitro, and active gRNA and Cas9 mRNA were injected directly into zygote. The deletion of exons 3 to 18 of Ace2 gene in six positive founder mice as the F0 generation were confirmed by PCR and gene sequencing. Six founder mice were mated with wild-type mice, then achieved F1 generation were mated and produced F2 generation. The female positive mouse of F2 was selected to mate with wild-type mice and produce Ace2 mice of F3 generation. Ace2 mRNA and protein were not detected in tissues of these Ace2 mice. In conclusion, a mouse model with Ace2 deficiency has been successfully established with CRISPR/Cas9 technique, which shall lay a foundation for future investigation of Ace2.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the overcharge problem of some highly valued medical consumables is getting worse in China, leading its relevant treatment cost to be very high, which greatly increases the burden of medical expenses for the patients' treatment and forms a terrific reason of catastrophic health expenditure. It is advisable for the government attaching great importance to and take comprehensive measures to curb the overcharge for highly valued medical consumables. To solve this problem, it is suggested to cure the standard, cultivate national brands to break the monopoly of import products, improve the comprehensive regulatory mechanism of circulation and use to prevent some highly valued medical consumables being overpriced, strengthening oversight in the stage of use to restrain clinical abused behaviors, packaging pricing for these highly valued medical consumables to promote producers and operators to significantly reduce prices, and guiding the doctors in the choice of cost-effective medical supplies.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To explore the role of sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) in the dysfunction of vascular endo-thelial cells exposed to high glucose.METHODS: In human aortic endothelial cells cultured under high-glucose ( 22 mmol/L glucose) medium, nitric oxide ( NO) level, polymorphonuclear neutrophil-endothelial cell adhesion rate, protein level of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 ( ICAM-1) , migration of endothelial cells and Akt/endothelial nitric oxide syn-thase ( eNOS) pathway activation were observed after S1P, sphingosine kinase-1 inhibitor and/or Akt inhibitor treatments. RESULTS:S1P decreased NO level, increased polymorphonuclear neutrophil adhesive rate, enhanced ICAM-1 protein level, and inhibited migration of endothelial cells and activation of Akt/eNOS pathway in endothelial cells cultured under high-glucose condition.Sphingosine kinase-1 inhibitor, which reduced S1P content, significantly improved the above endo-thelial cell function indexes and restored the activation of Akt/eNOS pathway.CONCLUSION: S1P promoted high glu-cose-induced dysfunction of endothelial cells probably by inhibiting the activation of Akt/eNOS signal pathway.Targeting S1P is expected to become one of potential treatment strategies to reduce endothelial cell dysfunction.
